Meet The Team
Victor Canales
Victor has been involved with USSSA for many years, beginning as a multi-sport official and working his way to becoming the National Fastpitch Umpire-in-Chief. In 2022, Victor stepped away from the coordinator position to start the Space Coast Spring Games.
Victor oversees the entirety of the Space Coast Spring Games. However, it won’t be unusual to find Victor on the field during the tournament as he is still an active official in several Division 1 conferences.
Victor has an expansive officiating career beginning at the age of fourteen. While Victor is best known for his fastpitch softball career, he has also officiated college soccer, college basketball, and Division 1 baseball. In his college fastpitch softball career, Victor has officiated many post-season matches, including three NAIA World Series championships. Victor is also a vital umpire in the Women’s Professional Fastpitch league, most notably named Crew Chief for the first ever Championship Series.
Victor is also involved in administering NCAA softball. He currently manages five assigning positions for conferences throughout the midwest, including the Crossroads league, the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference, the Midwest Athletic Conference, the North Coast Athletic Conference and the Ohio Community College Athletic Conference. He also provides training in multiple camps for officials throughout the Great Lakes area.
Bill Gomoluch
Bill has been instrumental in the rise of the Space Coast Spring Games as the coordinator of officials. He ensures that top officials are selected for inclusion in the tournament.
Bill’s resume is unparalleled in the officiating community. He has officiated many different divisions of collegiate softball, such as the Big Ten Conference, the Southeastern Conference, the Mid-American Conference, and notably, is still active in the Atlantic Coast Conference. His accolades include the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics Larry Lady Award for officiating in 2020, National Professional Fastpitch Umpire of the Year in 2018, and officiated the NCAA Division 1 World Series in Oklahoma City in 2014.
Bill is also the assigner for softball conferences across the midwest that include the Mid-American Conference (DI), the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (DII), the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (DIII), and the Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference (NAIA). Bill is also the National Coordinator for the NAIA and assigns the NAIA World Series.
Bill is active in Michigan’s high school officiating as well. As a 40-year Michigan High School Athletic Association registered official, he has officiated five state basketball and five state softball championships. As an assigner, Bill has helped boost many careers as he assigns high school sports for twenty different Michigan high schools.
